Fort Smith Aerial Fitness

About Us

Fort Smith Aerial Fitness is an alternative fitness studio specializing in aerial fitness (including aerial yoga and lyra) and traditional yoga. Our goal is to provide a supportive and positive environment for the community focusing on the promotion of: physical and emotional growth, confidence and trust building, and creative expression through movement. Fort Smith Aerial Fitness is proud to be accessible to the community through flexible class scheduling throughout the day, into the evening, and on weekends. Unlike traditional gyms and workout programs, we foster an environment of sustained growth and engagement through group atmosphere and support systems. We strive to enrich the River Valley community seeking a healthier, happier, and more expressive way of life.

Owner, Aerial Yoga Instructor

MaeLeigh co-owned the studio with Kristi for nine months before taking the reins as the sole owner in September of 2018. She started as a member of Fort Smith Aerial Fitness in October of 2017, and fell in love with aerial silks as a way of getting into shape while having fun. MaeLeigh currently teaches beginner level aerial yoga classes and workshops, and is pursuing certification in split silks and hammock.

MaeLeigh manages the marketing and scheduling for all Fort Smith Aerial Fitness courses, and is always looking for creative new ways to bring aerial arts and yoga elements into everyday activities. In her short time with FSAF, she has organized innovate workshops such as a glow-in-the-dark body paint yoga, “Mommy and me” classes for the busy mama, and even flirty chair dance classes-- a fun surprise for a partner! For questions about classes, or suggestions for activities YOU might like to see combined with aerial arts, simply send Fort Smith Aerial Fitness a message! MaeLeigh and her team would love to hear from you!

Aerial Arts Instructor

Courtney has been exploring the realms of many flow and movement based practices throughout her life, from dance to acrobatics. Always fascinated by movement, her passion for it shines every time she steps onstage or instructs a class. For nine years, she has focused on expanding herself as a circus artist in multiple disciplines including hula hoops, aerial sling, and stilt walking. In 2014, she founded Sacred Somatics Circus, a circus arts company dedicated to sharing the fun and playful practices of circus arts with her local community. Courtney has performed at a number of events such as Flow Motion Festival, Southern Lights Flow Retreat, Peacemaker Festival, Last Night Fayetteville, and many more.

In 2018, Courtney completed her 200-hour Yoga Alliance Registered Teacher Certificate with Powered by Heart Trainings. She started a second company, Natural State Inspired, where she continues to share her love for yoga through workshops, yoga hikes, and retreats. She even completed certifications as a Life Coach, as well as a Level 1 & 2 Usui-Tibetan Reiki Practitioner!

Pole Instructor

Kristi is our pole, flexibility, and conditioning instructor here at Fort Smith Aerial Fitness. She is an advocate for fulfilled living, and believes wholeheartedly in pursuing anything that brings more passion and joy into your life. Kristi is also a self-taught photographer, and finds herself seeking out art and beauty--which spurred her to take over Fort Smith Aerial Fitness in 2015! She owned the business for over two years, and absolutely loves the confidence and strength that aerial fitness has incorporated into her life. Before trying pole and lyra, she was a gymnast for ten years, so the training was right up her alley!

As a busy wife and mother, Kristi has found that pole and aerials have immensely impacted her life. They have allowed her time for reprieve and reflection, in a fast-paced, often overwhelming world. As she fell in love with this alternative-style fitness, she developed a growing desire to share it with others. She soon became a certified Level 1-2 Pole instructor through Vertical Pole Studio, and a certified Lyra instructor through Spin City. She is an integral and impressive part of our community here at FSAF!

Aerial Yoga Instructor

Sveta is an international movement instructor ranging in a huge variety of disciplines. She is our yoga and aerial silks instructor here at Fort Smith Aerial Fitness. She and her husband moved to Fort Smith from China in the summer of 2017. Together, she and her husband, Chris, are experienced in Brazilian joy jitsu, acroyoga, calisthenics, bar fitness, pole, aerial yoga, slackline yoga, Ashtanga, Hatha, Bikram, and Vinyasa. Through their teaching career, they have led retreats and taught in over 20 countries.

Sveta is a calming presence, and sets the tone for a peaceful perspective throughout her dynamic classes. Her classes embody the key principles of yoga, through the connection of the mind, body, and soul. She is an open book, and will gladly share all of her skillful, acrobatic tricks and tips with even a beginner! If alternative fitness is what you're looking for, that's exactly what you'll find in her classes and workshops

Lyra Instructor

Makayla is our lyra instructor here at Fort Smith Aerial Fitness, and has been teaching with us since 2017. She loves what she does, because everyday, she experiences the delight of helping someone do something that they didn’t believe they could do! She spends her class time enthusiastically empowering her students to just take a leap of faith, as they trust her to teach them to fly! She has a cheerful, relaxed attitude and is a friend to everyone that she meets. Her specialty is making you feel comfortable and confident!

Makayla is a believer that lyra is for everyone, no matter your reservations or current strength level. She says that absolutely no athletic background is necessary to learn what she does! She herself was unfamiliar with aerial fitness until only a few years ago, when she first learned about the studio. Her thoughtful fiance noticed her interest and bought her a class pass, and she has been “hooked” ever since!
